For keyword research you can use the Google keyword tool but I find it much easier and more efficient to use Market Samurai.  It has a lot of features – Rank Tracker, Keyword Research, SEO Competition, Monetization, Find Content, Publish Content and Promotion.  I mainly utilise the Rank Tracker to check where my sites are currently ranking for a number of keywords, the keyword research the perform the research on the keywords and key phrases and also the SEO competition feature which allows me to easily identify what the Top 10 sites have that my site doesn’t.

The developers of Market Samurai have just released a new tool called Domain Samurai which allows you to quickly search if domain names are available and add in prefixes and suffixes to domain names.  This is a fantastic time saver tool and best thing is, at the moment, it is free.

Another search engine ranking tool in my toolbox is Linkvana.  Linkvana creates backlinks.  You can either choose to write the 100 word blog posts your self or even outsource the writing task.  Linkvana then submits them to its blog network of PR 2 to PR 5 blog sites with a link back to your site.  You can control the anchor text or keyword and also the cycle of submission being from once per week to up to 2 to 5 posts per day.  These links are very powerful and I have experienced some of my sites going from page 5 to page 1 with 5 to 10 Linkvana links.

Now if you really want to get serious then you must have SE Nuke.  It makes submitting content to Web 2.0 sites, article directories, video directories, social bookmarketing sites and submit RSS feeds all on almost auto pilot.  This is linkbuilding on steroids.  Be careful though, don’t use this tool just to blast out backlinks as you may be penalised for it.
